PepPay, the Softpos application of Polskie ePłatności, is launched

Polskie ePlatnosci (PeP) a member of Nexi Group and one of the leading settlement agents in Poland, introduces the PepPay application, which is Softpos software, to its offer. PepPay will enable smartphones and tablets to act as terminals and accept contactless payments by payment card or electronic wallet. The launch of PepPay is a key element of the implementation of the company’s strategy aimed at meeting the needs of tens of thousands of companies from the SME sector in Poland.

According to data from the National Bank of Poland for the second quarter of 2022, contactless transactions accounted for 98.5%. numbers and 94.8 percent value of all non-cash card transactions. The popularization of NFC (near-field communication) technology has also enabled the development of mobile payments based on payment cards using smartphones and electronic gadgets (so-called wearables). However, the integration of a virtual cash register with payment terminals – also in the SoftPOS version, which is currently being introduced by PeP (Nexi Group) – enables accepting and settling payments only using a smartphone.

“PeP’s mission is to facilitate and support our partners in the daily running and development of their business. PepPay is the next step in achieving our goals. This means quick installation, safety, lower costs and no need to operate a separate device”, said Maciej Nowosielski, President of the Management Board of Polskie ePlatnosci. “This is an ideal solution for accepting payments in places currently inaccessible, for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs providing their services mobile, or for people running businesses where payments are accepted spontaneously. The application will also work well in courier companies and other professions where speed and comfort of work are crucial or so-called backup solutions are expected. It can’t be simpler.”

The PepPay app is intended for devices based on Android version 8 or newer (recommended at least 10) with an NFC reader and Internet access. PepPay also accepts the most popular mobile contactless payments: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and BLIK C (Contactless). PeP customers can also process payments with Sodexo and Edenred cards, issued on behalf of Mastercard.

Additionally, the PePpay application presents the history of completed transactions, allows sending confirmation via e-mail to the address indicated by the customer, and is prepared for integration with business applications, e.g. catering systems. All transactions are protected by unique security codes and payments are authorized by the bank online. Payment security has been confirmed by Mastercard, VISA and the PCI organization.

The PepPay version of the application is provided by the Danish company Softpay.io, which closely cooperates with the Nexi Group and has been developing its Aoftpos solution for several years, which is already available in many European countries.
